New publication on sustainable food-packaging materials!

We are pleased to share the latest research article from the SUSNAMU project:
“Alginate-Based Films for Food Packaging Loaded with Curcumin and Chlorophyllin: Effect of Micro- vs. Nanocellulose Reinforcement on Structural and Nanomechanical Properties.”
The study explores sustainable alginate-based films containing the natural compounds curcumin and chlorophyllin and compares the effects of microcellulose and nanocellulose reinforcement on their structure and nanomechanical performance. By examining how the size and characteristics of cellulose-based reinforcing materials influence film properties, the research provides valuable insights for the development of functional, bio-based alternatives to conventional food-packaging materials.

Z-stack reconstructions of the photoactive films obtained by confocal
laser scanning microscopy (CLSM). Images were acquired with 405 nm excitation,
highlighting cellulose autofluorescence and its spatial distribution within the
alginate matrix.
